That was an awesome experience. I hope everyone else had as much fun as I did. Thanks to the pit crew and drivers we were able to finish. Now we have the experience necessary to prepare for next year.
Thanks to Terry we actually have some pictures. I am horrible at actually bringing a camera and documenting a race day.
I am shocked that we survived the day on just one set of tires. And to add shock to that success, the tires are still in decent shape. The times did not fall off at all. My experience is that the tires actually seemed better at the end (or the minor setup change helped).

Let's do it again shall we? ;D Here's a link to Keevan's look at the start www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?v=593633353984515&set=o.116282075073957&type=2&theater I'll try to get Jonah's coverage of Simon up later.

All the drivers staying out of trouble We stayed out of trouble!!!! We did not take other karts out, and they did not take us out. In the grand scheme of racing, "we stayed out of trouble". At least that's how I gauge it.

As you say, Sir Ron. I bow to your greater knowledge!!! See Brad there is someone who believes I have "greater knowledge". It may not be superior, but I will take greater.

I want to know who scraped the hell out of the bottom of my seat ? I might have touched the ground lightly once or twice, but someone must have been using the seat as some kind of sled for most of the race !
Very enjoyable event. I'm still sniggering at the care that the crew put into securing the oil catch carpet to the ground and then I come thundering into the pit, lock everything up and rip the whole lot up and demolish all the hard work.
Your faces where a picture ! Everyone stood around the kart staring at me like I'm a complete moron and I'm laughing at the lack of traction I experienced with a carpet sliding across the blacktop. Ohh happy times !

Visualize front straight, hard left, hard right. Just after the hard right you slip to the left and transition off the concrete and onto the asphalt. That's where you slide with your butt. Sorry. Is it destroyed and need to be replaced? I am happy to contribute.

Ohh happy times ! Maybe because the race director emphasized coming SLOWLY into the pits and you were looking at the horror on our faces as you almost took out a grandma, a little dog and 3 children doing your Mario Andretti imitation. That and the need to unravel bits of carpet from the axle while we tried to explain your excessive speed to the radar gun crew probably accounted for most of our expressions...just a thought! ;D

LMAO
That's right, even Simon was not unscathed in the "stay out of trouble" debate. I thought it was great. You nailed your spot and then the carpet let go.

I am happy to contribute. I was kidding Ron. Yes, everytime I ran wide exiting that chicane I was crashing the seat into the ground, so ended up not running quite so wide on the exit to save the seat and my butt ! The seat is still fine, just a few more scrapes that it had before. Dan emailed me a bunch of nice photos. I'll get those posted here this evening.

Man you had me worried. I thought I was the only one dragging a__ on that corner. My wife told me that we should have a get together with the team to really analyze the data from the race day, and strategize for a future race. First, I am shocked my wife came up with that idea and voiced it. Second, she wasn't specific where we should meet, so I pick a beach in Mexico. It is actually a good idea. I have been crunching numbers to see how we can improve and we really are not that far off the pace, with some minor changes.

I thought the same thing. A postmortem before we forget what we learned and scribble some notes and ideas for next time would be helpful.
