I extended the reply deadline by a week. Unfortunately I neglected to post that little tidbit of info here on the boards. We are at 11 sets at this time. Anyone else?

I would be careful about "stocking up" on YKCs. Word has it they will be replaced by the new YLC around mid year. The YLC is supposed to be a bit softer. Old Compound: YKC, 59 shore hardness (YHC-53) New Compound: YLC, 48 shore hardness. ~Karl

Here is what Margay had to say about the new tire. Changes: The most significant changes occur with the new YLC compound which replaces the YKC. The YLC maintains the construction of the YKC but utilizes a dramatically softer compound. On a 60 second track, the new YLC is approximately 1.0 second quicker than the current YKC. The new YLC also offers better grip in low temperatures. Because the softer compound presents a higher level of grip, the kart slides less and wear life is comparable to that of the YKC (which all seem to agree is very good). Our own testing has shown the new YLC to be a much more user-friendly tire than the YKC. In addition to more overall grip, the YLC provided a much more consistent feel and improved 'drivability'. In our experience, wear was comparable to that of the YKC. We feel strongly that this tire will be very well received.

I've still got some bids coming in but just to let you know where we are at this point I can get complete sets for $157 when doing the bulk purchase. I should have all the numbers firmed up by tomorrow. This pricing assumes a minimum of 8 complete sets are purchased.
What I have heard from multiple sources is that they would LIKE to have the YLCs ready by the end of March. However, whether that date is doable in terms of having the quantity needed is up for debate. More likely, significant quantity won't be available (as Karl said) until closer to mid year. That is going to cause all sorts of problems for the Nats, but that isn't our problem. ;D
My sources also tell me, as was also reported by Karl, that the YLCs offer significant wear and consistency benefits when compared to the YKCs.

I'm sure the 7s are available but would require the purchase of at least 8 sets.

OK, it looks like $157 (plus tax, bringing it up to about $169) is the best I can find. Given the issues brought up above I'm not sure it makes a lot of sense to buy a bunch of sets each. We would need to buy at least 8 sets and if I'm reading everyone's posts correctly the following people have expressed interest...
Brad W Brad H Scott Simon Mark (maybe?)
Unless someone does want multiple sets we are below the 8 set minimum. Anyone else interested in 4.5 - 6.0 sets to bring us up to 8? Or, of those that have expressed an interest, does anyone still want multiple sets given the new tire is coming out as soon as March or as late a mid-year?
Hal and Sean, I understand you guys want the 7s but unless we can find a bunch of other folks looking for that same size we might be out of luck.
Speaking of Sean, what's this I hear you went to the Dark Side and bought a KT?? WTF man? You do realize you are required to turn in your NFRA/4cycle decoder ring, right???

The KT100 gave me cookies.... I really wanted to go with the WF... but i was afraid there wouldnt be a class for them at the blue max club level... I really am not in the position to travel right now for a series... however if enough world formulas race at blue max this year... the kt might be in the classifieds. Plus.. ill find a hole to add some 5w30 to it...

Isn't it likely that the new tires (YLC's) won't be legal to race on until the 2012 season?

Given the uncertainty with the YLCs I would probably not want more than one set of YKCs
