Well, as I questioned in an earlier post, given the impending changeover to an new compound, how many of those who expressed a desire to buy in bulk (particularly those who were looking to buy multiple sets like I was) are still interested? The only replies that I received were from Simon and Mark. I know personally I will only want 1 set and not the 3 or 4 sets I was going to buy. We need to buy at least 8 sets for the deal. So, again, who wants at least one set. If we get to 8 I'll make it happen.
Hal, I believe you and Sean are the only folks looking 7' rears. Do you think between the 2 of you you would want 8 sets? Especially with the new tires coming out?

The YLC tires are available now (front 4.5, rear 7.1). Unfortunately the 6.0 size was not homologated. How long will the YKCs remain legal during the 2011 season? Attachments:

How long with they be legal? That's the $64,000 question. I understand Bridgestone is trying to figure out how many K's are in the channel so they don't end up screwing their distributors with a bunch of tires they have to get rid of at firesale prices (like the YHCs). I would suspect that some tracks will opt to allow both tires to be used, especially if they aren't enough Ls available. I'm not sure how many folks will opt to run the Ks if they are in fact a second slower.

Just realized I didn't answer your question. My tire budget is spent so I am out of the group buy.

OK, so we are up to 4. Anyone else? Need 8 for a party! ;D If we can't get enough we could all just pay the normal +- $200 price for a set to get us going and then try this again when the Ls become widely available?

With the pending transition to the "Ls" we do not have the necessary interest to do a group buy (totally understandable) of the Ks. We can revisit this idea when the Ls arrive...whenever that is.

I thought I would chime in. The ykc`s will run threw the Outlaw series. Bridgestone has stated they have enough Tires to run until the 2 cycle nats. So for club stuff we will not let them run either until July. They are a softer tire by so many points. So they should be faster. Rick talk to Keith at Bridgestone. The real supply of the new tires are not here in the USA. WKA just sign the contract for this tire. It was said to take 3 months for them to arrive here in the USA. So please buy what you think you will need for the first half of the year. Because we all know ....once the new tire compound comes out everyone will want the new tire. Maybe with the new tire coming out this will stop tire doping also. To think we went to a soft tire so no one would dope and now we have a mess with that. Also if you get caught doping tires. You will be ask to just leave the event with a DQ FOR THE EVENT. SEE YA AT THE RACES!!

Oh no worries. The thing is, the L series tire does seem to be available from sources like Comet. Do you know if all the tracks are doing the same thing in terms of not allowing the L series tire until July? I guess since we sort of have our own rules and points system (and don't really run with the club classes) is doesn't really matter. However, if they really are a second faster than the Ks I have a concern about some of us running Ls while the rest are running Ks. Not that that is your problem. Just throwing it out for the rest of the NFRAers-especially the WF drivers.

On our stuff softer does not necessarily mean faster. In fact, it makes chassis tuning to keep the rear free even more critical. Softer tires on a clone may actually slow them down regardless of tuning.
Because of that we have not had tire doping issues in 4cycle, just for the record.
We will be running with the club WFs at Monterey, but they run their own MG tire deal anyways, so it does noit matter which Bridgestones we bring, as long as we are the same.

From my understanding the other tracks are not going with the new tires till later. They will be faster, they are softer. Could you see the haves and the have nots....it would be a riot. Aren`t the clones are still on used tires? That was a big thing for that class. "the cost" was to keep it down. Tire dope is ramped right now. You might not think it going on ....but, it is. I would say even in the 4 cycle stuff. Trust me we didnt know either. We know now. We have been in contact with Bridgestone about this issue. At some time this year they will come out and bring the new tool that they have for this problem. None of us will know when it will be. Kinda like the big suprise !!! The doping stuff is dangerest and harmful to humans. You really hate being the baysitter in this matter. I feel everyone has better things to do. Like making our races better for all!!and doing fun things!!!

I would think a simple digital durometer test could be administrated really quickly. I presume doping shows up at all temps?
