... so if I say "I'm in!!" then we have the 3 WFs ? Yes that would be true. However, I'm starting to wonder whether we are "whistling through the graveyard" here. Especially if local tracks are already calling the race. I usually don't do this, but, I think I have a foot back on the bottom rail of the fence at the moment. If we don't go it will probably be a beautiful day in Reno with clear blue skies and a clear summit...if we do go, the race will probably be canceled and then we'll get stuck at the summit for 7 hours because a truck jack-knifed. LOL Travis just texted me that it is now overcast there after clear skies this morning (just like here). Looking at Doppler it looks like it will be raining in Santa Cruz within the hour.

I'm still in. I figure there is a reason the western slopes are lush and green while east of the range is practically a desert.

Overcast in San Jose, friend in Truckee is saying it's going to rain like hell there. At this point, I would not be heartbroken if we bail.
This is like an English summer ... I thought I moved away from all this crappy weather !

You forgot... I'm still in. I figure there is a reason the western slopes are lush and green while east of the range is practically a desert and the summit is littered with the dead bodies of people who thought, oh yeah I can make it! (people eat people up there ya know!).

145 pm
Currently light overcast, barely a breeze and 61 degrees. This is the best weather ive seen in over a week.
Boy this is a hard call to make. Sundays race weather will probably be nice. The pass is what is concerning.
More to come

Way to go Scott. I just about had my foot off the bottom rail of the fence and you had to say it would stop raining by Sunday morning. Then the realization hit me that if it DOES rain on Saturday night WTF am I going to do with my tools and kart! Unlike you, I don't have a camper so I'll be sleeping in the back of the Sequoia which means my tools and kart sleep outside like they always do when we go on a road trip. Now, before you say put that stuff under your easyup, let me remind you that while it is hardly EVER windy at that track ( : , if the wind does come up my easyup will be in the next county by morning. Even if I had tires filled with concrete I'm not convinced that would hold it down. Rememebr when that gust came up a couple of years ago and Tim's easyup went bye bye even though he had it tied down on all four sides (with one leg attached to his tool box that HAD to weigh 75lbs at least and it was lifted right off his table like it was nothing)? I could deal with driving over the hill in the rain and even having the race rained out, but I don't want all my stuff at risk of getting soaked. I'm still coming across rusty tools from my adventure in the rain a Thill. SO, having said all that, I think I'm out. Kills me to say that. I've probably spent 8-10 hours on my kart this week. All the body work has been rewrapped, every thing has been fully maintained and I cleaned the crap out of it. Looks like this race will be a drop for me....

Brad, we might be able to squeeze two karts in my trailer for overnight storage if that would change your mind ?

The camper has a second bed so your tools and stuff could sleep in the Sequoia. Worst case your stuff sleeps in the scale house. You're running out of excuses....

Sorry guys, I'm late to the party. I agree with Scott. No place to go but Reno. I'm going unless some drastic weather predictions come up before Sat. morning.
When is everybody going up?
Brad, ye of great record keeping. Any recollection of gearing?

Weather update. 700pm.
Still overcast but bright out. Absolutely no rain. Temperature is right around 60 degrees and there is a nice cool breeze.
Just got done cutting the grass and didn't even break a sweat.
For those of you that don't have an enclosed trailer we can try to accomidate your karts and tools by storing them over night in the scale house or one of the containers we have on site.
BBQ kicks off at 6pm boys....

Sat: 30% chance overnight showers Sun: cloudy
It's about 3 hrs from Blue Max. Do we want to practice on Saturday? If so we should leave about 10am so we can be on track around 2pm.
Brad - what is our window to get into the gate on Saturday? Were they planning to leave a key with you?
